BARN ON THE BAYOU

Located in the 500-year flood plain, this house sits on an elevated podium overseeing a bayou to the rear. A drop of 10 feet separates the buildable area from the banks of the bayou. This tight-knit family loves to entertain, and the first-floor layout reflects the openness the owners have towards each other and what they want to project to their guests. On the interior, the kitchen is the central point where guests can linger around an extended island overlooking the informal family room, while the more formal living and dining areas behind the kitchen wall have views of the covered porch, with its outdoor kitchen, and the pool beyond.
